Following her doctoral training at the University of Iowa, she completed her internship in the Department of Psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Renze-Eilers then worked as a staff psychologist and Program Director of the Adolescent Admissions Unit at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh for ten years, where she also served as adjunct clinical faculty in the UNC Department of Psychiatry. She has been in full time private practice since 1998. With the training of a scientist and the sensibilities of an artist, Dr. Renze-Eilers has dedicated her career to helping her clients develop their own unique talents and abilities in crafting a healthy and positive life. Inspired by the courage and strength of her clients, Dr. Renze-Eilers strives to integrate the most recent clinical research into her practice. She is especially interested in interpersonal neurobiology, the importance of mindfulness in mood regulation and psychological health, and the integral relationship of physical and mental health. In a collaborative process, Dr. Renze-Eilers and her clients work together to address the presenting issues while developing an understanding of how early life experiences and family history have contributed to the problems. Together they work not only to alleviate the presenting symptoms, but to identify and foster the client’s strengths and resilience through changes in long-term attitudes and habits.

Dr. Renze-Eilers has extensive experience in working with depression, anxiety, sexual issues including sexual abuse, couples and family therapy and treatment of adolescents.
