Elizabeth has done psychotherapy with adults in private practice for 25 years since receiving her degree in Counseling Psychology from Duke University in 1980. Her graduate training concentrated on marriage and family therapy and during the last 10 years she has focused on treating couples and individuals who have problems with relationships, intimacy and sex. Integrated systems theory, which also attends to cultural, spiritual and emotional beliefs, is a cornerstone of her therapeutic orientation. Along with specific certifications in several models of relationship therapy, her couples work is influenced by the theories of John Gottman, David Schnarch and Sue Johnson. Additionally, she has trained in TA, Redecision, RE, DBT, experiential, psychoeducational and psychomotor approaches. Elizabeth also counsels patients for Planned Parenthood and has an interest in sex education and women's health issues.
50 minute sessions - $100; some sliding scale based on financial need. Check your insurance policy to determine if your plan's mental health benefits cover psychotherapy session.
